Volunteering with The Prince’s Trust

Vicki Douglas of Genium Selection volunteers recruitment experience to help young people on The Prince’s Trust Team Programme which is run by Bridgwater College in Weston-Super-Mare.

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a 12-week personal development which helps unemployed 16-25-year-olds gain the skills and confidence they need to move into work or training. The course includes a residential week, a community project and a two-week work placement as well as help with CV writing and interview techniques.

As members of the Team progress towards job hunting, Vicki helps them to improve their interview skills through individual mock interviews as well as boosting their confidence and self-belief. They show great willingness to learn, along with enthusiasm and motivation to find new employment. Vicki finds volunteering both a rewarding and inspiring experience and looks forward to volunteering recruitment experience on further programmes.

Jobsearch Support Service / DWP

Genium was selected by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to provide Jobsearch Support Services for Newly Unemployed Professionals / Executives who were referred by Jobcentre Plus.

As part of the Government's response to the economic downturn, DWP used the expertise of the private recruitment industry to deliver jobsearch advice and help to professionals and /or executives. This contract ran from April 2009 to March 2011, during which time Genium delivered this service to over 400 customers. Many of these customers successfully secured new employment by applying Genium’s expertise to their search for new employment, which included contemporary CV writing and interview preparation.
